Do I need a doctor’s referral to make an initial appointment?
Yes, you need a doctor’s referral to see a sleep specialist. If you have a regular GP, please get the referral from them. If you do not have a regular GP, you can see one of our doctors who will discuss your concerns with you and will make subsequent appropriate arrangements for follow up.
How much will it cost?
The appointments are bulk- billed.
Can I make an appointment as soon as possible?
We will make an appointment for you within one to two weeks.

What happens during a Sleep Study?
On arrival at MediSleep you will be shown to your room. Once you are in your night attire the sleep scientist will connect various electrodes and sensors. These are not painful and there are no invasive procedures.
Once connected you can go to sleep as normal. The next morning (approx 6 am) you will be woken and disconnected from the monitors. A light breakfast will be provided. During breakfast a short DVD will be shown, followed by a group discussion which is optional.
When do I receive my Sleep study results?
Your results will be discussed with you at your follow-up appointment. This is usually made when you book for your Sleep study.
What will I need to bring to my Sleep study?
Your usual medication, toiletries, night attire,towels and your own pillow.You may also wish to bring light reading material as there are no televisions in the rooms.
How much will the Sleep study cost?
The overnight bed fee is $800. This cost is substantially covered by your private health fund. Whether there is an excess depends on the type of health care cover you have. A deposit of $100 (non-refundable) will be taken at the time of booking. The remaining balance will be charged to your credit card following completion of the study.
What if I need to cancel the study?
Should you need to cancel your study please contact Melbourne MediSleep Centre on (03) 9504 8400 at least 3 working days before the sleep study.
